Since 2002 the Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives and Rare Book Library has been home to the Camille Billops and James V. Hatch collection of materials related to African American life and culture. Filmed in their New York City loft, the documentary accounts for the many ways in which the couple has been actively raising hell for more than 50 years through their artistic productivity, collecting, and fearless ability to speak truth to power. As artists and activists, this dynamic couple elevated the public’s consciousness around the “isms” responsible for shaping American culture, politics, and identities.
